Airbus A320 Aircraft Hit by Thunderstorm

Passengers Uninjured in Incident

An Austrian Airlines plane was badly damaged by hail when the airborne jet hit a thunderstorm. The Airbus A320 aircraft was flying from Palma de Mallorca to Vienna when it encountered the storm on Tuesday afternoon.

The plane's nose and cockpit windows were severely damaged by the hail, but the airline confirmed that no passengers were injured in the incident. The aircraft was able to land safely at Vienna International Airport.

Austrian Airlines said in a statement that the plane will be inspected by engineers to assess the extent of the damage. The airline said it is too early to say when the aircraft will be back in service.

The incident is the latest in a series of hail-related incidents involving Austrian Airlines aircraft. In 2014, an Austrian Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Moscow after it was hit by hail. In 2016, another Austrian Airlines plane was damaged by hail while flying from Vienna to London.
